Secret Jazz Concert series continues at Club Bonafide bringing in new names, new rhythms, new styles. For the performance on June 14th Mark Berman, who had given the show its unforgettable vibe and elegance, had invited a rising star Anaïs Reno to be the voice of the show and a jazz-scene regular Ray Marchica to lead on drums. The show will take place at Club Bonafide known to jazz connoisseurs as the place where the music happen. Jazz legends and new names are mixing up there to create that special sense of music in the air. Space is limited so reserve your seat here and get your two drinks at the club later. Mark Berman, a well-known pianist, composer, and arranger, has performed and recorded with the who’s who of jazz, pop and rock from Aretha Franklin to Wycliffe Gordon and many others. He has written and produced music for television and film including Sex and the City, Nurse Jackie and more. Berman has also been a powerful presence on Broadway, where he has conducted orchestras for Rent, Smokey Joe’s Cafe and Blood Brothers, and played lead piano/keyboards on Bullets Over Broadway, The Boy from Oz and many other popular plays. He is a graduate of Hartt School of Music.
Anaïs Reno who was born in Geneva, Switzerland just 14 years ago is currently a Drama Freshman at the LaGuardia High School of Music & Art in NYC. She had just completed her first professional solo performance at the renowned New York Feinstein’s 54 Below with the acclaimed jazz pianist Billy Stritch. As a recipient of the Recanati-Kaplan Scholarship Program at the 92nd Street Y, studying voice and music for the 5th consecutive year, Anaïs has had an impressive experience as a singer, performer, and composer, specializing in Jazz, Blues and Musical singing. After winning the 2016 Forte International Competition’s highest Platinum Award at Carnegie Hall, Anaïs has taken part in the widely known Apollo Amateur Night Competition, in April 2018, in New York. In addition to making a statement with her singing success, Anaïs is also a serious composer. Her compositions were played by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at David Greffen Hall, the JACK and Tomai Quartets in the US, as well as at the concert halls abroad. As a stage performer, she has been part of solo casts in AristoCats, Smokey Joe’s Café, Godspell, and Thirteen at The New York Acting Academy.
Ray Marchica is one of the most diverse and in-demand drummers in NYC. He has recorded with James Brown, Little Richard, Dan Hartman, Earl Klugh, Roy Buchanan, Rodney Jones, Amanda Brecker and Barbara Streisand. He is a member of The Ed Palermo Big Band, The Gary Morgan Big Band, and The Mike Longo Jazz Ensemble. Marchica’s prior engagements include The Rosie O’Donnell TV Show, Radio City Music Hall Orchestra, and The Broadway productions of A Chorus Line, Woman of The Year, La Cage aux Folles, Starlight Express, The Will Rogers Follies, Damn Yankees, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. When not performing with friends he can be heard on drums in Mamma Mia. Ray has accompanied Bernadette Peters, Betty Buckley, Tommy Tune, Joel Grey, Michael Feinstein, Leslie Uggams, Shirley Bassey, James Naughton, Jimmy Webb, Keely Smith and Marilyn Maye, and has recorded two CDs with his own group.
This show is taking place at Club Bonafide founded by world-renowned musician Richard Bona and restaurateur Laurent Dantonio to celebrate the most revered American art form.
