Netrebko’s career abroad first rested on her performing in the opera’s by Russian composers. In 1995 she made her American debut at San Fransisco Opera house singing in the title role of Lyudmila in Glinka’s Ruslan and Lyudmila. Her debut on the Metropolitan Opera stage happened some years later in 2002 when she was invited to sing Natasha in the Metropolitan Opera production of the War and Peace.

While establishing her superiority by deep interpretation of the dramatic characters in Russian operas, she continued expanding her repertoire by adding roles in major productions to the scores of European composers. This season at the Metropolitan Opera she was singing in Aida bringing sold-out house and earning rave reviews. Later in the season, she will appear in Adriana Lecouvreur. Netrebko records with DG and her discography keeps adding new titles.
