Korepanova is storming the music scene in the US with an impressive force of an artist who trusts her instincts. Coming to this country in 2012 at the invitation of renown pianist and professor of music Mr. Santiago Rodriguez of the University of Miami Frost School of Music, she completed her DMA degree there under a watchful eye of Mr. Rodriguez and fulfilled her Artist Diploma with pianists Mr. Kevin Keener and Mr. Tian Ying.

Born in 1984 in Izhevsk, Russia, she was raised in a musical family. She began to learn piano when she was 4 years old from her mother, her first piano teacher. Later she was taught to read music in orchestral clefs by her father, a formidable composer in his own right. At age 9, she had her orchestral debut at a Philharmonic recital playing Mozart’s No. 8 Concerto and adding her own cadenza. With that successful start, numerous awards and recognition in her home country followed.

Korepanova particularly likes to play cycles and is known to perform the complete 24 Franz Liszt Etudes at the same recital or a cycle of Rachmaninoff’s sonatas. Her fascination with the music cycles led her to launch ‘Festival Baltimore’, a two-week chamber music series and summer academy with a distinct program of complete works by composers working in various genres. The Festival premiered in June 2017 and is now in its third year. The festival is gaining good vibes making Korepanova excited by the audience response.

Besides selecting thought-provoking programs and playing serious music, Korepanova is an enthusiastic transcriber. She was the first to transcribe Richard Strauss’ “Ein Heldenleben” and Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata for piano solo. Among her other transcriptions are works by Faure, Berg, Amy Beach, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, and others.

The recital on Friday, August 17 will be Korepanova’s third appearance at Bargemusic. She points out that “its very rewarding to play for a knowledgeable, attentive and engaged audience” and is thrilled to be part of Bargemusic circle of friends. This year 3B program was deliberately selected for this unique venue. As Korepanova usually saves her own composition for the encore, it will be a delightful evening of time-tested classics and new music.  Click here for tickets.
