A serious jazz by the world-class musicians in an intimate and sound-perfect music club at the center of the music universe – what could be better for a night out in New York City? The famous Jazz Standard club is hosting the acclaimed jazz pianist and composer Fred Hersch and his superb guests in a very special 2019 Duo Invitation Series on May 28 – June 2, 2019.

The guest list includes Kenny Barron, a brilliant pianist known for his lasting mark on the jazz scene, an introspective guitarist and three-time Grammy Award nominee Julian Lage, a Grammy Award winner Kurt Elling, a vocalist, Hirsch’s old-time collaborators Drew Gress & Billy Hart, and a prodigious improviser Sullivan Fortner on piano.

Hersch’s deceptively simple yet deeply nuanced playing style is well-known to piano-jazz lovers. That special sound and the compositional precision earned him both fame and devoted followers. Treat yourself for a night of delicious music in the cozy Jazz Standard club in midtown Manhattan.

Fun, vibrancy, and grace are signature features of Emmet Cohen‘s  playing. Supported by his trio, which includes bassist Russell Hall and drummer Kyle Poole, the musicians bring back the sparkle and zest of jazzy days of the past.

Committed to the preservation of the treasured American musical tradition, Cohen is leading the project of transferring the artistic knowledge and history from the generation of established jazz titans like the bassist Ron Carter and the drummer Tootie Heath to the younger audience. Recording and producing sessions with legendary musicians make up his professional undertaking the “Masters Legacy Series.” He serves as both producer and pianist for each album in the series.

Winner of the 2019 American Pianists Association’s Grand Prize, 2019 Cole Porter Fellowship and recording residency with Mack Avenue Records, Cohen joins a prominent lineup of past awardees such as Sullivan Fortner, Aaron Parks, Dan Tepfer, and Aaron Diehl.

The excitement, warmth, and utmost elegance of playing the well-recognized staples of jazz repertoire make performances by Emmet Cohen Trio a must-see for every music lover. The band is a regular on the music scene and had taken part in every major music festival that is pioneering the new sounds. So’s repertoire includes music by the 20th-century classical composers such as John Cage, Steve Reich, and Iannis Xenakis as well as the music written by the band members themselves and other modern creators.

Summer nights in June are the best time to reminiscence about your favorite melodies and performers, so the concert by venerable The Manhattan Transfer group is exactly that kind of jazz. In other words, it is what you call ” a cherry on top” to any night out in New York City.

Well known to the public by numerous hits right from its first performances in the 70th and via a multitude of acclaimed albums released with the major record houses, the four singers had stayed true to their original vision for the musical genre.
