Beyond NYC: Piano Music for Four Hands at Bronxville Women’s Club
Midland Music Concert Series restarts on Saturday, December 4th, 2021 at 7 pm
One Piano Four Hands Program performed by internationally acclaimed pianists Oxana Mikhailoff and Vassily Primakov
Pianists, educators, and co-directors of the concert series, Oxana Mikhailoff and Vassily Primakov have known each other for nearly 30 years. Sharing warm memories about their alma-mater Moscow State Conservatory and their teacher Vera Gornostaeva, they started professional collaboration in New York upon their arrival here in the 1990s. The musicians continue enriching their careers by playing for the audiences in Bronxville and Sparkill, NY and touring together around the country.
It is a particular treat for the music lovers to hear them play in four hands as each pianist brings certain individuality and unique musical texture which perfectly complements the style of the other. Indeed, the harmony rules!
The program will include music by Liszt, Saint-Saens, Mendelssohn, Czerny and will also feature the next generation of pianists who are Mikhailoff’s and Primakov’s students.

Primakov started learning music with his mother and then from the age of eleven attended Moscow’s Central Special Music School. He continued at the Juilliard School from 17 when he came to New York to pursue his studies with the pianist Jerome Lowenthal. He is the winner of various prestigious piano competitions from the William Putsches Piano Recital Award, the Gina Bachauer International Artist Piano Competition, and the Young Concert Artist (YCA) International Auditions among others. In 2012 he was awarded a prestigious Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant.
Primakov is recording prolifically and by now has released over 30 albums. His recording won him wide recognition and following of music fans. The Classical Recording Foundation had named him “Young Artist of the Year” in 2007. Later in 2009, his album of Chopin Mazurkas was selected by the National Public Radio as ‘Best of the Year”. The success in recording led Primakov to found with his duo partner Natalia Lavrova, a new recording company, L.P. Classics Inc. in 2011.
Oxana Mikhailoff, a Russian-born American pianist of extraordinary talent, is known for her vast repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary composers. She is a second-prize winner at the Martha Argerich International Piano Festival in 2003. In addition to her appearances at the acclaimed music halls around the world from Argentina to North America and Europe, she is a recognized educator maintaining an active teaching career in Westchester, NY. Mikhailoff is an artistic director of Midland Concert Series at the Bronxville Women’s Club in Bronxville, NY. Her artistic vision for the Midland Concert Series is driven by her mission to bring world-class musicians to perform in Westchester, NY.
The Bronxville Women’s Club was founded in 1925 by Anna Lawrence Bisland, its first president. The present site, which is on the Westchester County Inventory of Historic Places from 1999 and the National List of Historic Places from 2007, was donated by Bisland to the Club in 1928. The Club offers a diverse selection of educational, cultural, civic, health and art programs. Midland Music Series is an ever-popular example of the exciting classical music events that take place at the Club.
